Instructional Coach

Sone, SariMy name is Sari Stone and this is my first year as the Instructional Coach at Ralston Elementary. I am fortunate that each day I have the opportunity to work with such hard-working, passionate teachers who clearly put students first.

These are a few of the beliefs that guide my work as a coach:

1. Teachers are working harder than ever, and they need to feel supported, not judged.
2. Teachers do the bulk of the intellectual work when we work together. It is my job to help teachers find their solutions and support teachers in their growth. This is not always comfortable, but it always pays off.
3. We all get better together. Everyone has something valuable to contribute. This is a we process, and we all get smarter when we do it together.
4. Communication is important. We know the importance of timely, specific feedback in the classroom. It's all one big classroom, and I welcome your specific feedback so that I may continue to grow as a coach.

My Background...
This is my 25th year in education. I earned my Associates Degree in Administration of Early Childhood Centers from Pikes Peak University, my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Kean University, and later received my Masters in Public Administration from UCD.
My first teaching job was in a school in Virginia Beach. In 1996 I moved to Colorado and I worked in Douglas County for 17 years. As a classroom teacher my students achieved the highest growth when I had the support of an Instructional Coach or Building Resource Teacher. I chose to become an Instructional Coach, and this decision led me to Denver Public Schools. Last year I was happy to join the Jeffco team of Instructional Coaches, and serve in my home district.
Throughout my years as an educator, I have held various roles - classroom teacher, resource teacher, program developer, math lead teacher, data coach, and Instructional Coach. These roles provided valuable experience and broadened my perspective. At Ralston, I am excited to work side-by-side with teachers to support student achievement.

My values...
I value relationships, happiness, health, creativity, and learning.
I am fortunate that my immediate family lives close by. Some have graduated from Jeffco Schools, while others are still attending. My husband and I have lived here for over 20 years. I am a firm believer in work-life balance. I will always be a teacher at heart, and outside of work I tutor several children. I am also passionate about Health and Wellness. I am a certified 500 hour + yoga instructor, and I enjoy teaching yoga to children as well as adults. I love the outdoors, playing with my dogs, gardening, and learning.
Words do not express how happy I am to become a part of the Ralston Community. Please feel free to reach out and contact me with any questions or thoughts you might want to share.
